Maeve Elizabeth Fintak is the firstborn child of Brigid and Stephen Fintak. Maeve was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome after 3 weeks of observation and care at the Northside Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Atlanta, Georgia. Her symptoms ranged from a critically low platelet count to poor oxygenation of the blood due to an abnormal pulmonic valve (pulmonic stenosis) in her heart. After spending 4 ˝ months at home with her parents, she required an emergency trip to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta, Egleston. While there, a successful open-heart surgery was performed to correct the defective valve. During her tumultuous 2 month recovery, Maeve’s chest had to be reopened 4 times to relieve pressure inside of her chest cavity as a direct result of complications derived from her syndrome.
On May 13th 2008, Maeve Fintak lost her battle against Noonan Syndrome and passed away at the age of 7 months and 8 days.
This foundation is for her.
